Capel U10s had a very successful 2017 season on the pitch, winning 11 out of 15 matches and finishing 2nd out of 16 teams. In comparison to last year, when we finished 7th, it shows a big improvement, and also reflects how quickly they adapted to hard-ball cricket.
There were a number of matches that were won in the final over, the highlight probably being the match against Dorking. Other notable moments include:
– Amy Hinton’s back foot cover drive for four at Salfords;
– Harry Straughan’s catch off the last ball of the match against Dorking;
– Madison Berrill’s aggressive bowling at South Nutfield;
– a wicket with his very first ball for the team for Ollie Lough (an U9 player);
– Joe Simpson’s running/calling every match!
