3rd XI
Summary of the 2025 Season:
The 3rd XI competed in Division 4 of the Surrey Downs League this season, putting together a competitive campaign across the summer.
Joe Ede captained the side throughout the year and did a great job leading a young and improving group. At the end of the season, he stepped down from the role, with Tom O’Brien set to take over as captain going forward.
Batting Highlights
There were some strong contributions with the bat this year.
Finn Abbott finished as leading run scorer with 305 runs, including two fifties, in a really solid season at the top.
Just behind him was incoming skipper Tom O’Brien, who scored 304 runs across 15 innings — consistent availability and valuable runs week in, week out.
Rudi Junicke added 274 runs, while Jamie Savage contributed 238 runs, including two half-centuries.
Joe Ede also chipped in with 169 runs, often playing important innings when the side needed stability.
It wasn’t about huge individual scores — it was about building partnerships and competing properly in Division 4 cricket.
Bowling Highlights
With the ball, the wickets were shared around nicely.
Jamie Savage led the way with 18 wickets, including best figures of 3/7, and bowled with real control.
Finn Abbott picked up 16 wickets, giving the side a reliable option throughout the season.
Rudi Junicke claimed 15 wickets, including a five-wicket haul (5/28), one of the standout performances of the year.
Support came from Kieran Brennand (9 wickets) and Max Marshall (8 wickets), providing depth in the attack.
Fielding
In the field, there were some strong performances.
Finn Abbott was heavily involved with 10 total dismissals, while Sammy Brearley contributed 7 wicketkeeping dismissals.
Jamie Savage and Oliver Burling also added important catches and stumpings, keeping standards high.
Conclusion
The 3rd XI continued to build this season — competitive performances, good individual contributions and a strong core developing within the side.
Joe led the team well during the campaign, and with Tom stepping into the role next year, there’s a solid platform to build on in Division 4.
